EMDR Consultation for Therapists

EMDR Certified Therapist™ | EMDRIA Approved Consultant in Training™
I offer virtual individual and small group EMDR consultation for therapists working with complex trauma, attachment, dissociation, and diverse client presentations. I am an EMDRIA Approved Consultant in Training™ and provide consultation under the guidance of an EMDRIA Approved Consultant™ in accordance with EMDRIA requirements.
If you are looking for EMDR therapy, please visit my therapy homepage. You can learn more about my approach to EMDR therapy here.
Consultation may include strengthening your understanding of the EMDR standard protocol and Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, refining case conceptualization, navigating complex clinical situations, and cultivating greater confidence in your work. Drawing on my background in depth psychotherapy, consultation can also explore transference and countertransference, dreams, active imagination, identity, intergenerational trauma, and integrating ego state interventions within EMDR therapy.
Who I Work With
I provide consultation for clinicians who are:
- Working toward EMDRIA Certified Therapist status
- Seeking ongoing EMDR case consultation and support with complex clinical presentations
- Integrating EMDR with attachment-based, psychodynamic, depth-oriented, parts-informed, or ego state approaches
- Seeking to provide EMDR through a culturally responsive, neurodiversity-affirming, and identity-affirming lens
I especially enjoy consulting with therapists who are working with clients experiencing:
- Complex trauma and developmental trauma
- Attachment injuries and relational wounds
- Dissociation and other protective responses
- Neurodivergent clients and clients with diverse ways of processing, communicating, or relating
- Challenges with pacing, readiness, and resourcing for processing
- Stuck or incomplete processing
- Complex clinical presentations requiring thoughtful adaptations
My EMDR Consultation Approach
My consultation style is collaborative and grounded in EMDR methodology, trauma-informed care, and depth-oriented psychotherapy. I value compassion, curiosity, and thoughtful feedback.
I believe effective EMDR requires intentionality and knowledge of the standard protocol as well as responsiveness, flexibility, and attunement to the person we are working with.
Together, we may explore questions such as:
- How do I understand this client’s protective responses and adaptations?
- In what ways might trauma, attachment, identity, culture, or neurodivergence shape the way this client experiences EMDR therapy?
- How do transference, countertransference, and relational dynamics, including rupture and repair, influence the EMDR process?
- How can I adapt pacing and interventions to support effective EMDR therapy?
- How do I support clients who become overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck during reprocessing?
- How can I provide EMDR that is affirming and responsive to each client’s lived experience?
EMDR Consultation Topics
I welcome consultation related to working with clients across a range of lived experiences. Meaningful trauma work requires attention to the whole person, including the relational, cultural, and systemic contexts that shape their experience.
Consultation may include support with:
- Case conceptualization through an attachment and developmental trauma lens
- Target sequencing and readiness for reprocessing
- Phase 2 preparation and stabilization
- Working with dissociation and complex trauma
- Cognitive interweaves and blocked processing
- Understanding adaptive and protective responses through the AIP model
- Integrating EMDR with parts work, ego states, attachment, and depth-oriented approaches
- Developing confidence with EMDR decision-making

EMDR Consultation Format
All consultation sessions are conducted virtually through secure video conferencing using Google Meet. While consultation is primarily offered virtually, limited in-person consultation may be available at my office in Encinitas. If this is your preference, please let me know, and we can discuss availability.
Consultation sessions begin and end at the scheduled time. If technical difficulties arise, we may continue the session by phone when appropriate.
About Me
I have more than 15 years of clinical experience working with adolescents, adults, and older adults in community mental health, school-based mental health, and private practice.
From 2019 to 2021, I worked as a clinical supervisor. I currently hold an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) credential through the Center for Credentialing & Education. While EMDR consultation is distinct from clinical supervision, my experience strengthened my ability to foster clinical growth through collaborative learning, reflective practice, and thoughtful feedback; skills that inform my approach to consultation.
My clinical work is informed by trauma-informed care, attachment theory, EMDR therapy, and depth psychotherapy. I aim to help clinicians deepen their understanding of the EMDR standard protocol and the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model while developing thoughtful case conceptualization, clinical flexibility, and confidence in their work. Together, we can explore how to thoughtfully adapt EMDR to support the unique experiences, identities, strengths, and needs of the clients you serve while maintaining fidelity to the EMDR model.
